ARC raise £15,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital
The Anglia Route Collaboration (ARC) have raised over £15,000 as part of a year-long fundraising initiative for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).
The collaborative efforts from members of VolkerFitzpatrick, Atkins and Network Rail were in memory of a colleague who championed GOSH - one of the world’s leading children's hospitals.
Together, the teams organised and took part in a series of events throughout 2018, which included the hugely demanding Three Peaks Challenge, a bikeathon at the Velodrome Stratford, a swimathon at the Stratford Aquatic Centre and the Gung Ho 5k challenge.
These events, combined with collections at workshops and briefings, quiz nights and cake sales achieved a fantastic final total of £15,649.
Representatives from ARC were invited to GOSH to see the work the charity does and to present a cheque for the funds raised, to the hospital’s fundraising team.
Mike Evans, project director at VolkerFitzpatrick said: “It was lovely to visit Great Ormand Street Hospital and see all the brilliant work they do. This was a fantastic achievement by the team and I was proud to be able to hand over the cheque to GOSH on the teams’ behalf.”
Amanda Harvey, Network Rail project management assistant - IP Anglia, said: “It was a wonderful afternoon spent at Great Ormond Street Hospital and handing over a cheque for over £15k from our fundraising events last year. This hospital does amazing work for sick children in this country and all over the world. Well done to everyone for their fundraising efforts, I'm so proud to work with such a great team!”
Laura Foy, fundraising executive at Great Ormond Street hospital, said: “Thank you to VolkerFitzpatrick’s and Network Rail’s fantastic contribution in helping us to continue to provide world class care to children and their families.”
