Meet the team

Graduating from the University of Plymouth in 2002 with B-Eng (Hons) Civil and Coastal Engineering, James has worked for major civil engineering contractors and in sub contract environments across a wide range of specialisms. Leading major highways and rail schemes, water treatment projects, hydro generation, EHV and coastal defence schemes. He is a Chartered Civil Engineer (MICE) as well as a member of the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation (CIHT). James joined VolkerStevin in 2015 and as Operations Director, he is leading and developing VolkerStevin’s UK energy business, including our Extra-High Voltage cable / civils projects and our specialist business unit Volker Trenchless Solutions, providing complex HDD solutions to the UK market.

Peter joined VolkerTrenchless Solutions in 2022 as Technical Director bringing his wealth of HDD technical expertise to our existing and established team. He is a highly experienced horizonal directional drilling (HDD) professional with 25 years of both technical and operational experience within the trenchless industry, and over 40 years of overall experience in construction and engineering. He grew his career through site operative, supervisor and manager roles, giving him a wealth of skills and experiences which, coupled with his technical knowledge, allows him to confidently lead teams in planning and delivering trenchless solutions safely, sustainably and to high quality standards.

Darren has been the operational lead for the VolkerTrenchless Solutions joint venture UK activities since joining in 2018. His role includes all construction activities, design management of projects, preconstruction and ECI phases, feasibility studies and tender support. Darren has been working in the civil engineering sector since graduation in 1990 and has gained experience in many aspects of the industry. His experience covers a wide variety of sectors, including major bridge construction, earthworks, water treatment plants and horizontal directional drilling. With excellent programme management and a thorough understanding of time related costs, he has successfully and safely delivered many complex civil engineering projects to time and cost.

Nick joined VolkerStevin as a graduate in 2015 and has spent time working and gaining civil engineering experience within a range of different sectors including flood and coastal defence, water treatment, marine as well as other major projects. He joined the VolkerTrenchless Solutions team in 2023 and has taken on the role as Commercial Manager. Nick's ability to understand the requirements of the client and the project enable him to identify risks and value opportunities, whilst effectively managing the commercial team, ensuring projects are delivered in line with the client expectations.
