VolkerStevin selects a charity to support and raise money for throughout the year. The chosen charity for 2016 was Grace House, located in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, which welcomes children and young people from across the North East, with complex disabilities, health needs and life limiting conditions. They provide a fun, safe, exciting environment where children can come and live life to the full.  Also, in doing so, gives the families the support they so vitally need to continue their caring.

VolkerStevin raised the funds through a series of events including walks, raffles, cake sales and a monthly ‘Dress Down Friday’ activity. The cake sales were a huge success in the office, where employees would get involved in baking at home and bringing in collection tins. Some employees set up a walking club, doing three miles a week, to help raise money for the charity as well as the added bonus of keeping fit.

Rob Coupe, managing director at VolkerStevin, said: “We chose Grace House as our charity for 2016 because we wanted to provide children and young people with a facility that can provide respite. We hope our contributions helped towards this and I am very proud

of all our employees for the money they raised, it has been an honour.”

The charity used the money provided to enhance the short break and respite care service for the children and young people when they visit. They have purchased specialist equipment and toys making sure the children have lots of fun when they visit.

Karen Maclennan, senior fundraiser, said: “A big thank you and well done to everyone at VolkerStevin for raising such a fantastic amount of money. You’ve certainly been busy fundraising and we really appreciate your support.”
