High recognition for CVU at Green Apple Environment Awards

Joint venture CVU (Colas, VolkerHighways, AECOM) has been awarded a Bronze Award at this year’s Green Apple Environment Awards. The trophy was presented in the Houses of Parliament on 6 November and recognises the team’s environmental work on Transport for London’s (TfL) ‘London Highways Alliance Contract’.

The team has taken on a number of ecological enhancement projects in the capital, in collaboration with TfL. These include the installation of bird and bat boxes around central London, as well as the removal of invasive plant species and the introduction of bee and bird-friendly species.

As a winner at this year’s awards, CVU has been invited to have their winning paper published in The Green Book, the leading international work of reference on environmental best practice.

CVU joint venture partner VolkerHighways has previously won three Green Apple Awards, in recognition of their work in Hackney and Medway.

Jason Convey, senior HSEQS manager for VolkerHighways, said: “This is the first time CVU has entered the awards and everyone is delighted with the result. This award is testament to the hard work of the team and their excellent collaborative relationship with TfL.”
