Success at RailStaff Awards
VolkerRail was awarded the Rail Plant and Equipment Team of the Year at Saturday’s RailStaff Awards.
VolkerRail’s Kirow crane team received the award for their dedicated efforts and reliability, on and off the track. With over 1,500 days without a RIDDOR, the team has become one of the most reputable plant teams in the business. Since acquiring the first Kirow crane in the UK at the turn of the century, VolkerRail’s fleet of Kirow cranes has expanded rapidly; employing 30 delivery staff to operate and maintain the biggest fleet in the UK.
VolkerRail’s installation manager, Andrew Fawkes and VolkerWessels UK’s learning and development business partner Nigel Roberts, also received honours on the night; being highly commended in the Rail Manager of the Year and Trainer/Training team of the Year awards.
Ken Robinson, specialist businesses director, commented on the award: “This is a great achievement and I am immensely proud of the Kirow crane team, Andrew and Nigel. Staff are the heart of our company and their efforts and dedication are what make us the success we are today, which was recognised with 12 shortlisted nominations on the night.”
This year marked the 10th anniversary of the RailStaff Awards, which aims to show recognition for the great work done by the people who work in the rail industry.
