VBA, a joint venture between VolkerStevin, Boskalis Westminster and Atkins, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, has been appointed to the Environment Agency’s (EA) national Marine and Coastal framework.
The parent companies of VBA have worked continuously with the EA over the past 17 years. VBA has been awarded positions as one of only three suppliers in Lot 1 (projects over £5m) and one of four suppliers in Lot 2 (projects under £5m).
Paul de Jong, VBA’s Marine and Coastal Framework Director, said: “We are delighted to have been appointed by the Environment Agency to its Marine and Coastal Framework. This is VBA’s second framework with the EA and we are looking forward to developing our relationships, which we’ve formed through previous frameworks, and to helping the EA successfully achieve its ongoing marine and coastal strategy and outcomes."
Brian Francis, Marine and Coastal Framework Manager at the Environment Agency, said: “The Marine and Coastal Framework will work alongside our new Collaborative Delivery Framework to mitigate climate change and reduce its impacts, protect the environment and promote sustainable development in all that we do.
“We welcome our new Delivery Partners and the specialist knowledge, skills and technology they bring to our projects. Together we will ensure homes, communities and businesses are receiving the best possible flood and coastal management for the challenges facing their area.”
Work is scheduled to begin in 2019, running through to 2023.
This announcement follows the appointment of both VolkerStevin and Atkins to the EA’s Collaborative Delivery Framework which also delivers the EA’s flood and coastal erosion risk management programme.
