VolkerGround Engineering completes piling works for Nine Elms Post Office
VolkerGround Engineering (VGE) has recently completed piling works for the new Royal Mail delivery office which is being built in Wandsworth.
VGE was appointed by main contractor VolkerFitzpatrick, to install the 450mm diameter bored piled foundations to an average depth of 20m. This project marked a new entry for VGE into the bored piling market and was the first time the business had mobilised its new Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) Rig.
Chris Thomas, director at VGE, said: “This project was a great achievement to be awarded, as we were able to use our own newly commissioned CFA equipment for the first time and participate in building on a new up and coming development site. We have been pleased there were no technical difficulties as ground conditions are well known to us in this part of London.”
VolkerFitzpatrick’s contract for the scheme is to construct the New Royal Mail delivery office and multi storey car park which will incorporate a vehicle servicing centre, as part of a new up and coming transformation scheme at Nine Elms.
