  • Tarrant Wharf emergency repairs – conventional piling

    VolkerGround Engineering has demonstrated its extensive marine piling knowledge and experience, supporting VolkerStevin in West Sussex, where they are working to deliver the Arundel Tidal Defence (ATD) scheme.

  • HS2 Colne Valley Viaduct Cofferdams

    In April 2021 VolkerGround Engineering embarked on its largest project to date, the cofferdams required for the construction of the Colne Valley Viaduct, on behalf of VolkerStevin, who were working with the main works civils contractor Align, a JV comprising Bouygues, VolkerFitzpatrick and Sir Robert McAlpine.

  • 3 Mills Studios

    In December 2018, VolkerGround Engineering was awarded a contract to provide a combination of steel sheet piling and concrete mini piling, as part of a wider scheme to improve flood defences for the 3 Mills TV and Film Studios in East London.

  • Dover Western Docks Revival

    The Port of Dover is one of the world’s busiest passenger ports and handles up to £122bn of trade anually. In order to meet the demands on the cargo business, and the high volume of traffic at the port, the Dover Western Docks Revival (DWDR) scheme was launched.

  • Ipswich Tidal Barrier

    In January 2016 VolkerStevin began works on the £21million Ipswich Tidal Barrier project, as part of the Ipswich Flood Defence Management Scheme. The scheme will provide the central Ipswich area with protection from a tidal surge to a level of 1 in 300 years.

  • Thames Tideway Tunnel

    In December 2014 VolkerStevin was appointed by Thames Water to carry out enabling works, ahead of the Thames Tideway Tunnel construction, which will tackle pollution in the Thames.

  • Littlehampton Flood Alleviation Wall Sheet Piling

    VolkerGround Engineering was contracted to install new sheet pile walls for Reaches One and Two, along the East Bank of the River Arun as part of the Littlehampton Arun East Bank flood risk management scheme.

  • River Don Stability Works

    The right bank of the River Don between Mile Thorn Sidings and Long Sandal Lock on the north east outskirts of Doncaster has a long history of instability.

  • Montrose

    VolkerGround Engineering was employed by main contractor - Farrans Construction Ltd to complete new piling works within a working port environment on the Montrose Quayside development scheme.

  • Anchorsholme

    VolkerGround Engineering completed, on programme, a marine cofferdam constructed as a part of the enabling works following the grounding of the vessel ‘Riverdance' on an outfall pipeline off Anchorsholme near Blackpool.

  • Durham Railway

    Due to the location of the pile lines, it was agreed that leader rig installation was not an option on this small contract at Durham Railway Station. Therefore, conventional piling methods were used to carry out the installation of the 42no 9.0m long steel sheet piles forming the two retaining walls for the new staircase.
