What apprenticeship levels we offer
Each apprenticeship level corresponds to increasing responsibility and qualification, preparing apprentices for various careers in industries such as engineering, surveying, project management, business administration, and more.
-
Level 2
Equivalent to GCSE level (grades 1-3 or below), focused on foundational knowledge and skills.
-
Level 3
Equivalent to A-Level or equivalent qualifications, providing technical skills and preparation for mid-level roles.
-
Level 4
Equivalent to higher education diplomas or certificates, preparing for senior roles in technical fields.
-
Level 6
Degree level, offering a bachelor’s degree and/or professional qualification, preparing for specialised and leadership roles.
-
Level 7
Master's level, focused on advanced knowledge and expertise for leadership and strategic positions.
Level 2 and 3 Apprenticeships
Our Level 2 and 3 apprenticeships provide an excellent opportunity to enhance your maths and English skills. If you do not already hold a Level 2 qualification (equivalent to GCSE grade 4/C and above), functional skills for both subjects will be embedded within your apprenticeship programme.
For higher apprenticeships, meeting the entry requirements typically requires GCSE grades 4 or above.
If you have relevant qualifications, such as an NVQ, or industry experience, we may be able to reduce your training time.
-
Stephany - Trainee Engineer
"The greatest part of my apprenticeship is to be able to apply what I have learnt on site into my studies and vice versa. VolkerFitzpatrick has helped me to expand my knowledge and skills in new areas that not only help me to understand my role better but also other roles within the company.”
-
David - Project Engineer
"After joining the EWR Alliance, my line manager offered me the opportunity to further my career through an apprenticeship, so I’m currently completing a Level 6 Rail and Rail Systems Engineering degree apprenticeship. It's a four year scheme that sees me working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Track Engineering."
-
Lara - Project Quantity Surveyor
“I wanted to further my education, and by doing an apprenticeship I get to earn money and get a qualification at the same time. I never thought I would enjoy construction as much as I do.”
-
Kaitlyn - L&D Apprentice
"My apprenticeship is allowing me to learn the knowledge, skills, and behaviours I need to put into practise when working as a team and allows me to have a better understanding of my role. I am really enjoying my time here at VolkerWessels and very excited to see what the future holds."
-
Owen - Apprentice Operative
“I decided to do an apprenticeship because I can learn and train to electrical industry standards, building my skills and knowledge, while doing hands on work. For those considering an apprenticeship, I would say the reward you gain personally and professionally is incredible and you will not find a better opportunity than doing
an apprenticeship.” -
Harminder - Trainee Estimator
"What sets Volker apart is its dedication to employee development and the strong sense of camaraderie among colleagues. I greatly value my team's experience and knowledge, and I appreciate the support I receive as a trainee estimator."
