We have a great opportunity for a Bid Manager to work in our Work Winning Department.
You will be responsible for :
Leading the work winning process of VolkerRail by ensuring the delivery of professional quality bids to maximise the number of opportunities within our chosen market sector. This post requires the ability to close contracts by successfully negotiating with clients.
Managing the development and production of tenders to ensure optimum maximisation of the likelihood of securing the works within a commercial framework. This includes but is not limited to the following:-
- Establish, monitor and manage a programme for the tender activity.
- Act as main point of contact for client body during tender process.
- Lead the production of all elements of the tender including; Scope definition, solution development, price, programme, risk, written deliverables, contract etc.
- Draft, review, edit and finalise written deliverables for tender submissions to maximise marks based on tender scoring criteria, working with technical experts and the Bid Writer as required
- Lead the tender settlement process.
- Co-ordinate preparation of tender submission documentation ensuring compliance with client and VR requirements.
- Ensure on time submission of all tenders
- Lead the tender handover process.
Lead / Contribute to tender strategy development:-
- Lead/Facilitate/Contribute to market analysis sessions (SWOT, Hot Buttons, Win Themes etc)
- Development of alternative/innovative solutions.
Lead production of/input into production of PQQ responses where required, including reviewing PQQ submissions to ensure all criteria is met.

About you
- GSCE Maths and English Grade C or above
- Construction related Degree
- Engineering and Management qualifications
- Minimum 2-3 years previous Bid Management experience, experience must include all aspects of bid preparation and post tender through to contract award in rail industry / construction
- Experience in team management / project management
- Experience in written deliverable production
- Experience working with different contracting arrangements and good commercial knowledge
- Ability to negotiate with Clients
- Excellent Communication and Presentation skills
- Collaboration skills
- Excellent ability to multi-task and to work to short timescales
- Ability to interrogate and review estimates, programmes and written deliverables
- Excellent attention to detail
- Problem solving skills, organised and ability to prioritise
- A full UK drivers licence
