Collaborative working agreements are a proven strategy for delivering large, complex railway projects, and through its strong relationships with other major contractors, VolkerRail Major Projects has helped to deliver several of the biggest rail projects over the last decade.
The SID is a fully integrated team that will bring together the strengths, capabilities, and knowledge of the partners and Network Rail. It will own the renewals work bank, manage it at portfolio level and drive a transition to a production management ethos. The SID is commercially aligned and jointly incentivised creating a ‘share in success’ environment. Business partners within the alliance will generate profit through performance against the Final Determination. The four partners, VolkerFitzpatrick, Octavius, Atkins, and VolkerRail are aligned to the core asset disciplines with the fifth partner, Network Rail Minor Works, being multi- disciplinary for low complexity, low value works.
The role
An opportunity has arisen for an Operations Planner to join our existing Planning Department working for our busy SID team based in Tonbridge.
Key accountabilities
Key duties will include:
- Producing compliant short-term programmes and agree with relevant accountable Project Managers.
- Producing complaint programmes detailing any procurement and design prerequisites.
- Sign off on Programme Updates and Communicate issues.
- Programme Integration Management.
Skills & experience
The successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail and be self-motivated with a pro-active approach with experience of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines with a minimum level of supervision. Problem solving, communication and good interpersonal skills are required for this role.
The candidate will also ideally have the following Experience/skill set:
- Microsoft Office and isolation planning techniques.
- Hold or working towards POS, SWL2/ Lift planner competencies
- Previous experience of planning in a major project construction site environment.
- A competent user of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
- A positive and enthusiastic approach to challenges and problems.
- The ability to manage work to meet varying deadlines.
- Full UK drivers licence.
