Highways
The UK’s strategic and local road networks are vital assets for communities and businesses, and our teams play a pivotal part in keeping these essential arteries running.
We provide multi-faceted engineering services, ensuring smoother, safer, less congested journeys for everyone while minimising disruption to the public. Through VolkerFitzpatrick, VolkerHighways and VolkerLaser, we undertake highways infrastructure work on motorways, bypasses, trunk roads, estate roads, green lanes and active travel routes.
We have extensive experience in designing and building all aspects of highways related civil engineering from capital projects through to highways term maintenance contracts including associated specialist services such as LED street lighting and electric vehicle charging point infrastructure.
Our highways maintenance services include cyclical works, 24/7 emergency response, routine highways and footways maintenance, reconstruction and improvement schemes, winter maintenance and public realm works.
We also have the capability to protect, repair, and strengthen bridges, tunnels and structures to extend the life of existing assets across the highway network.
Strategic highways
We have a long-standing relationship with National Highways and are incumbent on their Delivery Integration Partnership (DIP) and Scheme Delivery (SDF) frameworks, delivering highways infrastructure, structural repairs, waterproofing, expansion joints and cathodic protection works.
Local government
We undertake highway and public realm improvement schemes for local authorities across the UK. These include bypasses, trunk roads, high street regeneration and junction and bridge improvements, to smaller schemes including single footpath installations and cycleways.
Term maintenance
Our work for long-standing local authority and public sector clients includes maintaining footpaths, streetlights, drainage, road markings and highway-related structures, as well as providing full cleansing services. Our network management service delivers emergency response, winter gritting and infrastructure improvements.
