VolkerGround Engineering in the North East
VolkerGround Engineering was recently contracted to install a total of 94, 16-metre length ESZ28-700 steel sheet piles on a project in the North East.
The client had earlier identified that an existing dock quay was being undermined due to scouring through tidal fluctuations and vessel bow-thrusters. To protect the dock quay from further scouring, VolkerGround Engineering installed sheet piles using an RTG19 leader rig equipped with vibratory and impact hammer, supported by a 55-tonne telescopic crawler crane. To overcome challenging ground conditions the pile line was pre augered in advance of the install.
The team also created outlet holes through the steel sheet piles, to accommodate drainage channels.
Works were completed within programme, without HSEQ incident or NCR.
